You do not always need permission to fly. Sometimes you only need to remember that the wings were yours from the start.

In Norse tradition, some valkyries were swan maidens, strong and fearless women who could fly in cloaks of swan feathers. One was named Svanhvit, swan white, and she followed her own fate.

Perhaps we all have a pair of wings like hers, folded away until we are ready.
